The idea of Aurelia Books was conceived one night by a book lover – with a dream and a vision – over a glass of red wine, ambient music and low-lit lighting.
The dream was clear: create the kind of bookshop and third space they wished existed in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington. An introvert dream where people can browse books, sit down with their book of choice, make a tea or coffee, and not feel like they're being rushed out the door. A bookshop that actually makes you want to stay and escape the busyness (and chaos) of the outside world.
Aurelia is not just in the market of selling you books. We're also about creating a space for people and communities to come together – for book clubs, writing groups, crafty groups, bookish events and everything analogue. Maybe even, to find your next bookish best friend.

The name Aurelia is derived from the Latin word "aureus" meaning "golden" or "gilded."
