As a boutique independent bookshop, we review each submission individually to ensure it aligns with the interests of our readers and the overall collection we are building.
How to submit
If you would like to have your book considered, email us with:
- A brief introduction about yourself
- The title, genre, ISBN, recommended retail price and wholesale price of your book
- A short synopsis
- Information about where the book is currently available
- Links to your website and/or social media.
Our review process
All submissions are reviewed individually.
When assessing titles, we consider:
- Editorial quality
- Suitability for Aurelia Books and our readers
- Market appeal
- How the title complements our existing range.
Submission does not guarantee acceptance, and due to the volume of enquiries we receive, we may not get to your submission quickly.
If your book is accepted
If your book is accepted, Aurelia will create a product listing for your book on our website and make it available for purchase through our store.
As a small independent bookshop, we ask authors to actively support the launch of their listing by directing readers to purchase through Aurelia Books.
Demonstrating reader demand
Before we commit to carrying stock in-store, we ask authors to help generate interest through their own audience and networks.
This approach helps us ensure there is demonstrated customer demand before allocating limited shelf space to a title and allocating our resources.
Our investment
When we accept a title, Aurelia Books invests time and resources into reviewing submissions, creating website listings, processing customer orders, managing inventory, marketing, and introducing books to our customers.
For this reason, we look for authors who are willing to actively support their book and encourage readers to purchase through Aurelia Books - with a 60/40 standard publishing industry term.
Stock requirements
Books must:
- Be professionally printed
- Have a valid ISBN and barcode
- Be supplied in retail-ready condition.
While many self-published authors choose to publish through Amazon, Aurelia Books will never directly do business with Amazon. For us to stock a book published through an Amazon platform, you must supply the books to us yourself.
Ongoing availability
Continued in-store and online availability is determined by:
- Customer demand
- Sales performance
- Stock availability
- Available shelf space.
Aurelia Books may adjust stock levels or discontinue carrying a title at any time. If your books have not sold after 6 months, you are required to pick those copies up. If you cannot pick them up, Aurelia Books will dispose of them.
General Terms
Acceptance of a title is at the sole discretion of Aurelia Books.
Submission does not guarantee stocking, promotion or ongoing availability.
Aurelia Books reserves the right to decline submissions, remove listings or discontinue stocking any title at its discretion.
Aurelia Books will pay you for books that are sold. Any books that are stolen or damaged are your sole financial responsibility.
Aurelia Books does not support the use of AI in the creation of pukapuka. We kindly ask you not to submit your book if you have used AI to create it.
We welcome submissions from authors who are passionate about their work and committed to helping readers discover it.
